Foundation Program is a
preparatory program for high school graduates,
designed to equip fresh high school graduates
from other countries to adapt to the Australian
education system. It runs for about a year and
is highly recommended for those who wish to study
in a prestigious university.
Students are able to choose their fields of specialization
(i.e. future majors) and take compulsory and elective
courses, just like in universities. Many educational

Australian
primary and high schools proudly stand as one
of the best around the world. Each student is
assessed according to their aptitude, talent and
interest, avoiding the enforcement of unnecessary
education. The Australian government controls
the teaching methods and levels of education,
ensuring that the educational system is nothing
short of superior quality. Schools are managed
by state governments, promoting close relationships
between them. Most of these schools are public
(only residents and citizens of Australia can
attend these schools) while about 25% are private
schools. Private schools are generally administered
by religious sectors.
Attendance is crucial for students up to Year
10 and some schools provide dormitories for students
of Year 7 and above. At Year 10, students normally
proceed to Years 11 and 12 and are expected to
finish their last year successfully for entry
to university. TAFE and some business colleges
are now providing a matriculation course which
is equivalent to year 12.
